Midwives in Afghanistan

I just saw this youtube video about midwives in Afghanistan and thought I would share it.   Giving birth is such a profound experience for a woman and though I really know very little about women in Afghanistan, I found this moving.   As a birth doula, one of my main hopes is to minimize suffering during the birth experience, and it sounds like these midwives in Afghanistan have a chance to do that in a truly profound way.

"Midwifery, as it saves lives and mitigates suffering... is a bridge across which hope can travel to a place in which hope is a rare commodity"
