Nancy Rust was our birth doula with our first baby who was born in May 2011. We hired her 2 1/2 months before our due date and it was the best choice we could have made. She helped us to set up a birth plan and was always there to answer our questions during the pregnancy -even late in the evening when I didnt feel comfortable calling she answered my textes right away with the advice I was looking for (and I could have called anytime). As our little girl was 2 weeks overdue the birth was induced. We decided to go to the hospital without her first and call her when the contractions would start. The moment we called she was right there as she waited at the hospital for us to be ready. She motivated me during the contractions till I asked for an epidural which was always an option in my birth plan. And even with the epidural my husband and I were both glad that she was there for us. After we had the baby she visited us at home to see how we were doing and to help to get adjusted. She was always available when questions came up and had an helpful answer. I definitely recommend Nancy Rust as a birth doula!

From Jen & Alex.  Their baby was born June 2011:

Thank you so much for everything, Nancy!  You are wonderful and we can't thank you enough for all your support!!!

Originally my Seattle Yelp page, this one comes from Jeff & Teri.  Their baby was born July 2010:

Plain and simple, Nancy is a rock star. Through the time my wife and I have spent with Nancy, one of the things that has become evident to us is the genuine care she has for people she works with and the thoughtfulness with which she provides support and understanding. She has a wonderful way with people and has always been able to put us at ease with her very effective use of humor. Her communication skills are absolutely first rate.

Nancy surpassed all of our expectations when it came to working with a doula. As amazing as Nancy was through the 16 hours of our labor and delivery (she came to our house at ~3 am), I think the on-call support she provided before the birth and continues to provide post-partum might even be more valuable. My wife and I went through a very rough spell during the first few weeks of parenthood, finding it immensely difficult to cope with the relentless demands of caring for a newborn and seemingly endless challenges associated with round-the-clock breast-feeding and sleep deprivation. Nancy took every call we made and e-mail we sent, and always found a way to put our minds at ease and encourage us through our dark moments. She even came to our home on multiple occasions to make sure the three of us were doing OK; in our minds, this was way beyond the call of duty. She continues with periodic check-in e-mails to this day, four months after our daughter's s birth (in early July 2010). Case in point, she provided us with invaluable advice and support just the other night when my wife called her in a panic due to the tremendous difficulties we've been having with our daughter's poor sleeping habits.

I cannot underscore enough how incredible Nancy has been to us. We feel privileged to not only have been afforded a wealth of services at an incredibly reasonable price, but we know we are truly lucky to have someone as wonderful as Nancy in our lives.

One final thing I want to mention about Nancy. From the get-go, she emphasized the importance of making the birth experience memorable for BOTH my wife and me, and was so focused on doing whatever it took to achieve that. It was very important to me to find someone who treated me (the Dad) as an equal in the birth process, and not simply as a cute novelty. Her position on this issue was clear from the first time we met and she has never wavered to this day. Nancy still (tirelessly) answers all of my questions and places equal importance in everything that I have to say. If this is important to you Dads, husbands or partners out there, you can rest assured that Nancy is the real deal.
